Foolish Boy

by Jenn   May 3, 2007

If you look closely in the shadows,
You'll see someone you once knew.
She reaches out to you,
With her hand outstretched in fear.
Would you grab hold of it?
And lift her up into the light?

Did you realize that someone could hold such fear?
Did you realize that people might need help?
I bet if you look at her wrist,
You might be taught of something new.
Did you think if you left her all alone,
you could fix her to a memory?

But now look at you.
You're staring at her with tears in your eyes,
as you watch her fade away.
You knew that you could help,
But you just left her hand to grasp the air,
as she slipped away to nothing.

Look beyond the dark shadows.
There, in the light, just behind the tree.
There's a stone, with her name engraved.
She lies in the ground, just waiting.
Do you know what she waits for?

Even though you never helped her,
She waits for you.

You foolish boy.
