A missed call....

by Nil   May 14, 2007

From the bedroom a noise is heard
softly and surely a ringing
the girl tries to ignore
the phone's quiet begging

minutes turn to hours
the ringing has long since stop
now the red neon numbers are glaring
3:46 AM flashes on the clock

Chances of sleep have vanished
Like the phone's screams
Like the person on the other line...
the nameless face that haunts my dreams..

A mistake and a kiss
a false declaration of love
hold your friends close and enemies closer
A broken heart to dedicate this song

5:24 the red numbers sigh
the girl is awake, but she's not alive
tears grace her flawed face
falling to the ground
the look on her face is screaming
the truth she'll never tell

A chance to make amends
If she has just picked up the phone
A single thought ran through her mind
"I'm better off alone"...
