Ode to My Best Friend

I remember when you first came home
I smiled from ear to ear
And right away, I knew it was true
My new best friend was here

You sniffed around and checked things out
And it wasnt long before
You knew this was a forever home
And curled up on the floor

Endless days, we ran and played
How did I manage before you?
And even when mischief came
I couldnt help but adore you

So many gifts you gave to me
And without a second thought
Unconditional love is love
One of many lessons taught

You never cared if I combed my hair
Or what was on T.V.
The only thing that mattered to you
Was spending time with me

And now my friend, has come the end
