The Girl Next Door (thoughts of a girl and boy)

Waiting-

Every other stanza a girl is thinking. In the ` ` the boy is thinking. The girl has every other stanza, so does the boy. You'll catch on don't worry. Haha.

I wonder if he read,
That little folded note,
Of what I once wrote a long time ago,
Wonder if it's still in his pocket.

`Girl, only if you knew,
Only if I had the words to speak,
I've read that note so many times,
But it's been a year since we last spoke,
And my heart's breaking.`

I wonder if he still thinks about me,
I wonder where he's gone,
Maybe he's married now,
And got the greatest little kids,
Any girl who has him is the luckiest in the world.

`Wonder if she moved on,
And got married,
Any guy to hold her is the luckiest in the world,
Maybe she still thinks about me,
Maybe she's still waiting for me.`

Waiting for him is all I can do,
Tried to move on,
But my heart keeps coming back to him,
It'd be a miracle,
If I got to see him again.

`I got to see her,
Maybe she still lives next door,
Or what if she moved,
People would know,
Wouldn't they?`

Watching him from my living room window,
Working on that little garden,
I miss those days,
Each day I'm waiting,
To see him walk out the front door to that garden.

`I got an airplane ticket,
On my way back to her heart,
Going to go see her today,
I'll surprise her,
It'd be a miracle!`

[A few other hours later,
The boys' plane had landed.]

I miss seeing his face,
As I miss seeing him work,
Been so long,
Since he left.

`Been a long hard year,
Seeing her face would make,
The world go 'round again,
Got a pretty smile like an angel,
And got a pretty face like a model,
Ah, the girl next door.`

Who is that man,
And he's walking to my door,
Is it who I think it is,
Oh my dear lord it is.

`Maybe she'll recognize me,
Maybe she won't,
Would she hug me again,
Or would she draw back with a family,
I hear the footsteps,
And the door is opening,
It's still the girl next door.`

They both replied to each other,
"I've been waiting."
