In Memory of Graham John Akers

This is a poem i wrote for my best mate...Mel
True story

The day she got the news
It came as a surprise
She was made to see her father
For one last and final time

She took her best friend
From whom she always had support
Too be at her dads bedside
Without a single thought

When she walked into his room
She broke down miserably
As the tears rolled down her face
She couldnt bear to see

Her daddy in such a sad way
He was always the strong
The fun and loving man
Who could never do wrong

In his daughters eyes
He could see her pain
He wanted to talk
But it was too much to strain

The only words
He managed to say
Was what she needed to hear
From the heart of this saint

I Love You...he had said
Using all strength he had left
She replied with the same
As her tears came to shed

Her touch so gentle
Loving and kind
How could he be leaving
His little girl behind?

Drifting into a state
She stayed with him
Stroking his face whilst
She was weeping.

He wasnt conscious
But he could hear her words
She tissued his cries
As he wept for her

She cried for a while
And stayed by his side
But when leaving time came
It was so hard to say good-bye

After leaving him to rest
She had never been so sad
How could they take away someone
As special as her dad

After being at home
Not even a day later
She received the awful news
Of her dads departure

So her and her mate
They got drunk in his favour
Stayed in a hotel room
With his moments to savour

She tries to hide and pretend
That shes happy everyday
But all she can think is
Hes in a better place

Its been almost 2 months now
Shes gradually getting on
She has he friends to support her
But nothing will change what has been done.

Mel...Graham is in a much better place,
Hes happy and wants you to be happy
He was proud of you and loves you...
So remember the life he lived
And cherish the moments you had with him
It makes him smile when he sees you laughing
And it makes him sad to see you cry
So smile in his honour and make him happy.
Hope this didnt make you cry babe.
Love you heaps xoxox Krissy
