Perfect Polka Dots

by Suri dawn   May 19, 2007

Polka dots and ribbons.
Smiles and big blue eyes.
Ballet slippers, bonnets and bows.
This is her disguise.

She smiles and says she's fine,
when you ask if she's ok.
But you can't see the pain inside.
She wants to die today.

They say she's so thin and pretty.
Her smile is so bright.
But looking at her eyes I wonder,
if she really is alright.

Everyone sees all her beauty,
but they do not see her heart.
She strives to be perfect for everyone,
and it's tearing her apart.

She'll do anything to be perfect.
She'll do anything to be thin.
No one sees it's killing her,
they only see that she "fits in".

Her grades are all straight A's.
Her hair has never been dyed.
Her thin body is not so natural though.
No one sees the pain she hides.

She goes on fasts for many days.
She lives on diet pills and grapes.
She exercises for hours on end.
Self-starvation will be her fate.

No one sees the little girl,
trapped inside this cage.
She's perfect on the outside,
but on the inside she's lost and afraid.

Being thin enough to fly,
was her ultimate goal.
She knew if she had a perfect body,
she would have a perfect soul.

    I love this.
    i really do.
the only thing is this line
    "Self-starvation will be her fate."
doesnt fit in with the stanza it is in.
    i love it though.
