Melody of a Memory

by Brianna   May 21, 2007

Words can't express your pain.
Thoughts won't soothe your tortured heart.
Nothing said can explain
How so quickly she could depart.

Many moments can last a lifetime.
They keep replaying in your head.
There are those that seem sublime,
Yet there are others that we dread.

Thoughts play back through your mind,
And you wonder what you could've done.
You know in your heart that you were blind,
That there was nothing you could have done.

The reason for this unfortunate event
God will reveal to you sometime soon.
Where she dwells keeps her content.
It was meant to happen that afternoon.

Wet tears cover your sorrowful face,
But they won't take over for much longer.
You will continue to run in this race.
These hard times will continue to make you stronger.

Fear will persistently try to take over you,
But keep pushing past those great hurdles.
May the remembrance of her get you through,
And may it be you that her graceful arm encradles.

Though you won't see her again for a while,
Memories will always fill you with joy.
I pray that someday you'll look back and smile,
And realize that more lies ahead for you to enjoy.

"Many moments can last a lifetime.
They keep replaying in your head.
There are those that seem sublime,
Yet there are others that we dread."

I truly adore that stanza because it states an invariable fact. Memories indeed are assorted... Nevertheless, pleasant or unpleasant, they're just a retained impressions of a particular event...

"Thoughts play back through your mind,
And you wonder what you could've done.
You know in your heart that you were blind,
That there was nothing you could have done."

When you stated that stanza, I could feel another pang of pain and regret keyed in my heart. What it means is admirably true in any case, on my account. But then again, one has nothing to regret in life. Regret is merely a sentiment from people who's about to lose their lives and et cetera...

What's so interesting to note is that, in the midst of darkness obscuring one's heart, one still looks forward for a better living. Aptly so to speak, these challenges and trials one is currently facing will prepare oneself to a promising future..."Melody of a Memory" -- a beautiful title...

Be well and take care now. Love, Debbie
