When it all began

I used to write poetry
Just because I could
But now I write it
Because I think I should

It helps me with my issues
It helps me get through life
It helps me deal when it gets tough
Even through all the strife

It all started for me
What seems like a long time ago
Back in elementary
When I was only 10 yrs old

I wrote asinine poems
About love and about life
But they meant nothing to me
Since they had nothing to do with mine

I was told I had talent
And that with ambition I could improve
But it wasn't until i was older
That I felt I had something to prove

Now it seems like forever
Like I've been writing all the time
I feel truly proud and blessed
Because these poems are all mine.
