I Close my Eyes

I close my Eyes
and try to imagine
if, after so much
pain,
I could abandon
my love for you
and live my life
again...
all that comes
to mind
is a memory
of you promising
never to leave...
I look up and
see you waving
at me...

I turn away
and
I close my Eyes
once again
