Life's Lemonade

by MidniteRain   May 29, 2007

These lemon-scented memories
Are getting the best of me
Separate the juice from the rind
The rest is left behind
The wounds start to sting
Now I don't feel a thing
So I rub some salt in deep
Add some water to dilute
That tainted bitter taste
The sugar's stirred in
And that's all but erased
Pour it on thick
As it fills the glass
Drowning that empty past
Take a long drink
As I sit here and think
Now that it's made
It's to you I salute
With this Life's Lemonade.
