Dear mister from your Mistress

by Jessica   May 30, 2007

I look back over your gifts from that short time,
And reflect on that fact that you were never truly mine.
The whole time you could see my heart was breaking.
I gave you everything, yours for the taking.

All the while there was someone in between.
Intangible, translucent, like a forgotten dream,
While on waking, slips thought your hand,
Flimsy compared to our passions oh so grand.

I hear the tales of your deeds so cruel,
But brush them off as things you'd never do.
The lies, the fights, the rumors cant be true.
All the while I sit next to the girl you are unfaithful to.

Do you know how hard it is for me?
To hold up this front and be happy.
I never thought this is how we would be.
As your hands travel up my leg,
And your girlfriend pretends not to see.

You call me Mistress,
But don't understand how much that hurts.
A relationship without trust,
And lies behind all your words.

You say you love me, but I know it is not true.
And just so we are frank, I do not in fact love you.
Please understand I would leave you if I could
And lately the way you have been treating me I probably should

Sometimes something that isn't quite right is better than nothing at all.
