Your Crime...

by Annwyn   May 30, 2007

O endless forever, you cannot know your crime
A horrific transgression beyond punishment
A cruel torture that from no man's mind
Could spring such concoction of detriment

Scheming witch, your ears do not deign
To listen to the pleas to that which you preside
You yield not an inch over that which you reign
The one force of nature man will never defy

Cold hands of Death must follow in your wake
Your merciless wrath entombing us all eventually
Even that which never lived, you inexorably take
When nothing lasts forever, you are for eternity

From the lowest beggar man to richest king
There is none who can escape from you
Mountains, forest, you claim everything
On every fall, only your cold blade is true

Rust and crumble, all things laid to rest
An eternal war that has always been sight unseen
A death blow delivered with a lover's caress
It is undeniable that, at world's end, you are queen

But I don't place blame for all of these things
I call you how you are, oh goddess of time
It's not for them that I desire to clip your wings
But none the less, you take something of mine

It is not life, nor laughter that you steal from me
It is not my youthfulness or innocence you steal
There is no other who could commit such thievery
And the pain of its absence is so very real

There is but one crime of which you are guilty
A travesty that can only be describe as sin
For, you see, when you move on into eternity
You rob me of my time... with him
