The accident

I told you i loved you
you told me you loved me
the two of us just knew
that we were meant to be

we talked about forever
never having a doubt
we'd grow up and have a family
and see what that was all about

but then that tragic day
when we got into the car
we hadnt even planned
on going very far

just around the block
for a simple ride
i never could've imagined
that'd be the day you died

as we turned that corner
of that little street
a car with a drunk driver
we decided to meet

we tried to get out of the way
we were swerving left and right
but it wasn't worth it
it was a useless fight

when i woke up
i saw u laying there
i saw lots of flashing lights
u seemed so unaware

as i crawled over to you
tears streamed down my face
you were my true love
that no one could replace

if only that kid
hadn't drank that beer
then my true love
you would still be here

but now they're loading you up
your about to be long gone
you've left me on this earth
and i feel so alone

no one can replace
all you've given me
why did this have to happen
to a couple like you and me?

we already had our life planned out
the future was in our hands
but God has taken you far away
to another land

i just want to an explanation
why you and i?
you were the last person
who deserved to die

what about that other kid
the one behind the wheel
this might be a horrible thing to say
but why didnt he get killed

why someone who did nothing at all
doesnt that seem unfair
that other kid left without a scratch
he left without a care

i just dont know where to start
i cant believe its true
why did this happen?
