Chrysalis

by Tiffany   Jun 6, 2007

A spring breeze flows so gently
Breathing life into soft, fresh flowers
The air is calm and cold, crisp and refreshing
I sit back and gaze excitedly

The bright tulips gain their color
The birds have finally begun to sing
My heart flutters while I watch
The butterflies spread their fragile wings

Gentle warmth pours from the sun
Setting my thoughtful face a glow
I see new life born all around
and I know
It's time to let things go

This spring does not simply bring
Fresh flowers or soft clouds
It also brings a new awakening
of the person that's inside of me

These winter months within my heart
have taught me so many things
full of pain, yet no regret now
because I can see the growth within

I too, feel like a gentle butterfly
slowly coming out of my chrysalis
I'm building strength day by day
waiting for the day I can fly away

I imagine myself spreading my wings
Going out and exploring brand new things
Leaving this rugged old tree branch
that I've been dwelling on for so long

But for now I get up from my resting place
and take off running down the hill
I jump on the swings, absorb the crisp breeze
And laugh with my new love, my friends
