Who Will Listen

by Cawi   Jun 7, 2007

Time slips through our fingers and trickles by,
The world's full of things we regret to see,
We're stuck growing older not knowing why.

Countries and people have a greedy eye,
Striving for their own gain to some degree.
Time slips through our fingers and trickles by.

Suddenly a war breaks out to defy
Our cherished memories of being free.
We're stuck growing older not knowing why.

Sometimes too many people have to die,
They should not have to pay this tragic fee.
Time slips through our fingers and trickles by.

There's nothing we can ever do but try,
Though no one listens to our futile plea.
We're stuck growing older not knowing why.

And still we ask why do our children cry,
But who will listen to the likes of we,
Time slips through our fingers and trickles by,
We're stuck growing older not knowing why.

(its a villanelle! hard to write, especially with the iambic pentameter, but its my opinion of the world at the moment.)
