What Is The Price?

by Tricksy   Jun 11, 2007

They always told me,
Life is hard.
I always knew,
Never go too far.

I've always seen
What it's like to lose a life.
I've always been told
Everything must have its price.

But what is the price of love?
If you say heartache
You know not
What love truly is.

And what is the price of breath?
If you say
No air is unpolluted,
You've never been to the top of a mountain,
Looking down at the world below you.

What is the price of a teardrop?
Many will tell you, pain.
But they do not know
The joy you find
In releasing that pain.

What is the price of life?
There is no price
Except for the ones we've created
In an effort to make things make sense.

But it doesn't make sense
How we can never live
Without the fear
Of an unknown consequence.

It doesn't make sense
How all we live for
Is death.
