Life as a Match

by XSugarSexSuicideX   Jun 11, 2007

Living in a box,
With thousands just like me,
Until one day when
The time comes to
Enter the world.
Everyday,
One of my brothers is taken
And we never see them again.
The day I am taken,
I see for a moment,
A candle, small and beautiful,
Waiting to be lit.
All of a sudden,
My head is on fire,
Burning,
Burning.
The fire migrates from
My head to my feet,
Scorching every essence of my being.
As I am lowered to the candle,
My hands reaching down to transfer
My flame to its wick,
Until, finally,
I am blown out,
My use expired,
My life over.
