Most Familiar

by Elton Lau   Jun 12, 2007

The feel of an old bed
The smell of an old wardrobe
The sight of your old room
The sound of a spoon stirring a cup of coffee
The chatter of lost loved ones
Downstairs, while you befuddle the likelihood
That you have returned to a time once long forgotten

The feel of an old school
The smell of the old hallways
The sight of a bygone swing
The sound of closing lockers
And as you turn around
The presence of a first love fills the void
Of lost years as she kisses your lips

The feel of everlasting tranquility
The smell of fragrances only found in the past
The sight of the yesteryear sunshine
The sound of voices never to be heard from again
And as you awaken
Your wish to relive the past had been momentarily granted
And nothing is quite as calming as that which is most familiar
