The Void

by robin milford   Jun 15, 2007

Only the great die young
the rest of us left to suffer
through the enormous loss,
left with an empty void in our hearts
Why is the question
that keeps plaguing our minds.
Could I have stopped it?
Was there something
I could have done,
should have done?
Each of us wants to place blame some where,
that place really doesn't exist
We mourn for the man he was
and what could have been.
We feel such sorrow
for the fatherless children.
We are left with all of this and must go on
not allow our sorrow to bury us as well.

    Our sincerest laughter
    With some pain is fraught,
    We look before and after,
And pine for what is not.

I have just changed the order of lines from Shelley to answer your querry. We can be happy if we live inthe present only.
