All I Wanted

I lay near my phone,
waiting to hear it ring.
But all i hear
is a cricket begging to sing.
All I wanted
was to just talk to you for a bit,
but this night is over
and now my heart is resting in a pit.

I just wanted this night
to make-up for all the nights we have fought,
we would have forgiven each other
for every hurtful thing we have thought.
It was night
where everything could have been fixed,
but now it may have just started
one of many to come conflicts.

I just wanted to hear your voice
to help ride my heart of the pain,
but now the pain has to lay another night
making me wonder if it will ever be able to drain.
So what am I to do,
just let it sit there and grow?
Or am I just supposed to forget about it
and let every ounce of pain go?

All I wanted
was to just to talk to you on this night,
since I wanted to make-up
for the nights we had a fight.
But now its over
and there is nothing that we can do,
but always remember
that, no matter what, I'll always love you...
