Our Own Way

by Amanda Whisenant   Jun 19, 2007

I look in the mirror, then i say please stop looking
please go away.

I hate the way my body looks i cant
stand the blemishes on my skin.

I hate the way every
one looks at me like i'm some kind of a sin.

I know my skin isn't flawless, and i know i'm not stick thin, but why does that have to be the case just to
make some friends.

You don't have to judge me by my appearance. All I really want is reassurance.

I'm human too, and i need love, not just from my family, or the man up above, but also from people i don't even know.

I could get to know you, and you to know me, just give it some time, and then we'll see, can we be friends, or do we have to be enemies.

The way we look, or dress should'nt matter, not everyone has to be at the top of the social ladder.

So one more time let me say, we can be friends and still look our own different way.

"The way we look, or dress should'nt matter, not everyone has to be at the top of the social ladder."

When everybody gets this whole "Im better than you" idea out of their systems I think everybody could get along better. Beauty isnt everything, if someone expects you to be skinny and pretty just to be your friend, there not worth your time and you're better off finding someone who is. Strong message in this poem.

    Take Care.
