Old Flames Burn Forever

by JRS   Jun 20, 2007

Illustrious stare from across the table
Capivated by time, willing and able
To meet you again after all these years
Past the trials and through the tears
I knew not then you were my counterpart
I have been guarded right from the start
Protecting everything behind this high wall
It's crumbling away beginning to fall
Exposing every last tender soft spot
You chipped away and so hard I fought
Until I was left exposed and bare
You took my hand to show you care
Open I lay as the pages of a book
You break me down with just one look
You stole the love I knew not I could give
Forced me into the reality in which I live
You're a hero to me in so many ways
I'll throw up my hands and give you due praise
Found the true love in your face my old friend
Forever with you is what I'm planning to spend
Thank you for all of the things you do
I swear my heart only now beats for you.
