LOST IN THE BLACK

by Grey Ajurahck   Jul 2, 2007

The sun brings an awareness,
slowly filling my room with light
until all is much too bright,
I sit here taking sleeping pills
as every hour passes quietly by,
I watch the sun move across my room,
fading into gray shadows
as eventually the light begins to fade,
and twilight creeps in,
the dusk replacing the light,
and I sit in my self induced stupor
of cognizant non-sleep,
until finally the sun disappears
and all that is left is darkness,
later still, the total blackness consumes me,
I am lost in the darkness, the blackness,
until everything and all I am exists in black,
and after the long hours of night, the morning arrives again,
and grayness fades into the bright light of the new morning,
but every day is the same,
the boundaries of day and night blurring together,
and like me,
dissolve into an endless nothing
of eternal black.
