Hungry Eyes

Hungry eyes
stalk the busy playground
desperately searching
for some snotty-nosed brat
to watch squirm
and to spit on
and to nick dinner money from.

Hungry eyes
watch for bullies
who stampede viciously
at the weaklings who snivel and skrike
hoping to discipline them
and teach them about life;
something they will never forget.

Hungry eyes
watch from the lecturn in assembly
for the teachers
who fall asleep
because theyâ??ve forgotten
the reason they wanted to teach
in the first place.

People talk without listening,
words fall on deaf ears.
But
Hungry eyesâ?¦
