Once

by Elizabeth   Jul 11, 2007

Once

It felt like a hole in the heart
had grown from within, somewhere
Once felt the warm sensations
whenever a figure stood in sight

This is a bridge
where a beautiful river
flowed freely below, plunging
this bottomless heart drifted
where confusion lied far away
sky so rich with promises of blue
that doubt faded into the horizon
but, clouds of uncertainty sailed into view
and this hope lost along the dusty roads

Out of the dark forests of a cluttered mind
cruelty was unleashed!
with the weight of a rock
so cold and solid
that it smothered the heart!
This love died young
but the heart grew old
