Painting of a Tainted Day

by Elizabeth   Jul 11, 2007

Sitting on a deserted hill
underneath a blood red sky
clouds painted gray
pass above my head so high
sinking into the horizon
the yellow sun hides
behind the swaying trees
the raging storm subsides

The light swims across the sky
fades within the moonlight
I lay inside myself
to await the endless night
the wind carries transparent tears
to a single drop of rain
as it trickles down
the tongue of a fires flame

Blood flows down my cheeks
chaos found its way
I open these dead eyes
to another tainted day
