Elevator Music

by Jenni G   Jul 13, 2007

Elevator music is all I hear
Four corners I connect
You gaze at me from the side
I look up wondering which floor you rest

Seven floors of separation
Can you feel my heart beating through these hallow walls?
I dare not speak to anyone close to me
The encounter I replay in my memory

Ride with me to the top
I promise to let you out at the next stop
This elevator now a sacred place
You gaze down at me to see my face

Our eyes connect I cant look away
Pure beauty tantalizes me
Desire me as I desire you
I desire you as you desire me

Elevator music dissipates
Two beats trapped in one floor
No murmur or conversation takes place
Awkward silence I must swallow

Space of no separation
What are you feeling?
Do you hear my heart beating?
Can I give out myself anymore than I have?

Two doors slide open
One floor too early for my landing
Will you stay with me for one night?
Instead you smile and said “goodnight”
