To be somebody's someone-
A task for Cinderella
My only job was
Carrying her umbrella

Never in the spotlight
Who would notice me?
A simple slave, a servant
Doing a good deed

Making her beautiful
Primping for her date
Charming at the ready
On her he'd always wait

But me so simple
Dirt on my face
Dust on my feet
A complete disgrace

Until one morning
While buying some goods
I was stopped by a man
In my path he stood

What's his intention?
I wondered in my head
He wouldn't explain
But stared instead

I looked at my feet
In hopes he'd go away
But to no avail
Instead he stayed

"Kind sir, please
Leave me on my way
Stop staring so
This I do pray!"

But again nothing
Still as a rock
"You're making me blush,
Why, to me, do you flock?"

Again no answer
Finally I looked up
Embarrassed completely!
Am I really such a dope?!

The plastic mannequin
Had a mocking smile
I eventually kept moving
But it took a while

I then came to terms
As I got home
I'm Cinderella's slave girl
And'll wind up alone!
