Why?

I cry at night
you wonder why?
My heart it breaks...
with every lie.
The tears they fall...
they never cease,
because I know
we cannot be.
We tried so hard
we lost the race
We're so ashamed,
face to face.
Finally,
I meet your gaze
your perfect eyes
I cannot erase.
I want to know
why this couldn't work
I try to speak,
but it just hurts.
You hold me close,
we say good bye.
... and to this day,
I still wonder, why?
