My Friends

by Skyra   Jul 23, 2007

I hate the labels they give me-
Gothic, nerd, geek.
Just because I'm smarter
and boyfriends aren't the only thing I seek.

I'm in band-
and to me that is cool
I march around and
get to support my school

I'm an actress-
and I love plays
they give me challenges to overcome
and funny lines I get to say

I'm and artist-
and drawing is my joy
I don't pay attention to the girls
who dress skimpy for the boys.

And this is how I met my friends-
along the lines of these.
I don't feel pressures
or the need to please

So what if our group
is made of outcasts?
Along the clique's lines of uncool?
Me and my friends have a blast

We dress like we feel
and eat what we want to eat
I'm comfortable with my gang.
So what if we're freaks?

I'm happy with my baggy jeans
instead of the skirts that show off your legs
my group doesn't have to be cool by
drinking, doing, or getting high.

So what if I don't cheerlead?
Or fit into the popular throng?
I'm happy with my group of friends.
And I've found where I belong.
