Rising the Fallen

by audrey harris   Aug 9, 2007

People, you confuse me
everyday, more and more.
God bless America,
run away from war?

The "sensitive" don't care,
it's okay to protest,
but at a soldier's funeral?
The care shows less and less.

So turn your back on your country
and all of those who fight for you.
Pray that we have more fallen
so everyone can see YOUR view.

So mock the war at a funeral
and shout your stupid cry
as a mother sobs over baby boy
who served, fought, and died.

Can you look in her eyes,
her heart filled with sorrow?
Can you talk to her as your selfish ways
make her wish there was no tomorrow?

Call this blunt, I'll call this honest
for reality you to see;
your protest aren't "fixing" the war,
they're disturbing the final bits of peace.

*my step-dad goes to Iraq in September, and i wrote this in reaction of hearing that there was a protest at a funeral of a soldier killed in battle. that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard*
