Russian roulette

by Rebekka   Aug 11, 2007

Sitting alone in the evening hours

playing russion roulette

watching the time roll by

and waiting to forget

the four wall surround

- a prison or a home?

the 6 o clock news play qietly

and the sad man cries alone

----------------

venturing out when the sun rises high

through crowded haunted streets

coming home when the taverns close

stumbling and dragging his feet

opening up the box of memories

the yellow aging photos

of the family that never was

and pain begins to grow

sleeping pills to quiet the storm

take him far away

thoughts of taking just one more

and he might stay

waking from nightmare

shivering warm and wet

sitting there in the morning hours

playing russian roulette
