I Lied, version 2

*Note: this is an old poem I submitted 4 years ago. I made some changes a few months back and have decided to submit the edited poem.

Everybody's
trying to say
that I should turn
and walk away

Let you go
without a trace
let another
take your place

But they don't know
what I've been through
love won't go
away with you

'Cause it'll stay
inside of me
a neverending
memory

That will last
'til the day I die
made me laugh
but now I cry

We're over now
it's said and done
saw some good times
had some fun

But when you said
I looked upset
I turned my head,
denied

And when I said
I'd soon forget
I must admit
I lied...
