Like two lost doves

by resisting reason   Aug 12, 2007

Walking through a city of ruins
just me and my love
flying over the ashes of burnt memories
like two lost doves
we're alone, but not lonely
together as one, she has shown me
how to love, how to open up my heart
how to care without falling apart
as we walk through the ruins and look at what was
we realize somethings weren't meant to last, even love
betrayal and lies
the only two things that cause love to die
what happened to us, why do we change
now when we're together it feels so strange
i miss us, and what we had
when i think about it, i feel so sad
but at least i have our memories
charred as they be
i look back and smile, even though I'm sad, it was all worth while
