Sweet Old Ghengis

by Soulful Ensemble   Aug 13, 2007

There he sat, Genghis Khan, waiting silently for Gandhi
When he arrived, the brute man told him what he had been waiting to say
He truly hated and despised him and only kept him around for his teachings that were dandy
Gandhi had taught the Mongols how to be real manly,
By making them love their enemies and showing up for war disappointedly.
But Genghis then decided, after the teaching was complete, to throw away Gandhi
Down the river Styx,
where the dead wander all around, and walk on their knees.

When Gandhi awoke he saw a man as pale as white among a river of souls.
Charon, cruel and collected, lead the boat through the misty sea,
and disciplined his dead delivery with an oar to feel a deep glee.
The blue lagoon was coming and Gandhi didn't know why he was condemned
He was always devoted to his people and took good care of them.

Charon then said to him, " kind old man there has been a big mistake",
"You really don't belong here and I will send you up right now."
Gandhi smiled and said, " thank you my good captain, I really thought there'd be
a better end to my life. Although I am not a sacred cow.
I always made my people smile with acts I disavow."
An angel then came down and took him from the boat,
And all the souls were jealous and felt dry around their throats,
They thought they also deserved to go up and meet the lord.

Meanwhile, on earth, Genghis laughed and put on a flat-top hat
And danced for his comrades who are all but glad.
They made angry faces and asked for a little chat
They wondered why Gandhi left and will never come back.
The men loved him and were not satisfied, to see Genghis laughing with his lullabies,
The king had a smirk and mentioned that Gandhi had died
The soldiers now all realize that he was out of line.
"We know you took his life" they all replied,
"It wasn't right and now you must die".

Then they all surrounded him and attacked him through the spine,
Sweet old Genghis was crippled by an army of his own design
After killing such a man who was divine to his pack of swine.
Now Genghis Khan sits in the dust and reminisces
About the days when life was good,
When the laughter in his head hadn't yet consumed him
And the arrogance was easy and crude.
He sits there in the nude, with his flat-top hat on his skull,
And the parasites wander through his body until there's nothing left for food.
His soul is in the river Styx where it belongs,
And Charon disciplines him with his oar.
