Painfully So

by LizBeth Unknown   Aug 16, 2007

Pulsing lines and bleeding seams
Of sewn up hearts and supportive beams
Holding together your glass filled chest
Keeping in line your spewing breath
The bullet peirces deep into your back
You feel your torso tighten as your legs go slack
Twisting and turning the knife digs in
Your head becomes light as your eyes start to swim
Engulfed in darkness and your own warm blood
Cold on the outside, yet you burn like wood
Death is frightening, oh painfully so
You try to hold on as your body lets go
Sweeping in over you, the Grim Reaper stands
You choke for fogiveness and get on your hands
Down on your knees, his scythe to your neck
You shiver and shake - refusing to go yet
He laughs in your face and just aims for your throat
In one swift move, you no longer choke
You open your eyes, waiting for death to do its charm
Instead you are greeted with needles in your arm
A doctor smiles brightly and says "You survived."
You take a deep breathe and close your eyes
Death can be frightening, oh painfully so
Watch around corners, you just never know
