New Style, New Town

by Emily Strickland   Aug 18, 2007

This new town, this new world,
has brought along many changes
of every different kind.
But what surprises me the most
is this secret crush I've found.
No he's no one new,
he's always been around.
But that smile I overlooked before
seems to shine now through my soul.
The eyes that were merely those of a friend
will never be the same again.
Thousands of messages and late night talks
lips stealing kisses, and fingers linked together
fill the gaps in between this rising affair.
Pondering how it actually happened
I will forever be at a loss to know.
I find myself searching for breath
to take in this blossom that continues to grow.
The old me does not exist
not since you've come along.
She's lost somewhere along the freeway
on this road to new adventure.
Where this will take us,
I am still unsure.
But for now I will sit back and enjoy the ride.
Such suspense and excitement surges through me.
As for the consequences ahead,
those thoughts dwell in the back of my mind
as you occupy all the rest for now.
