Scandel

by Emily Strickland   Aug 27, 2007

Look around at the world thats spinning.
You take a glance but it's moving too fast.
Wondering whether you should jump or stay still,
looking to the future, but still holding your past.
Lets face it, this was never what you wanted.
A place to call your own, yeah thats great.
But along with it came built up baggage,
which will soon lead up to your fate.
A universe of opportunity awaits,
but it seems so hard to find.
The alcohol, the pills, and the shame
are too busy clouding up your innocent mind.
Your friends that surround you are no good themselves,
they're just pulling you under while you try to reach for help.
You're drowning in emotions of guilt.
Get out while you can, there is still time for yourself.
Tears roll down your cold cheeks
making them warm with fear.
Screaming out the names of those around,
but you are too far gone for them to hear.
Your lips speak nothing, your eyes blank
Emptiness fills all the voids, like an everlasting sea
The happy soul that once lived inside,
has slipped through your fingers to be free.
Free from the misery you've created,
free because from this mess, you couldn't survive.
So now you'll just block out the world to deal.
It's the only thing left to do, so you can stay alive.
