The tears of a shadow

by Toni   Apr 29, 2004

Sitting alone
A figure in the shadows
Pleading endlessly to the night
To help her win her sad fight
And all around her
Is a puddle of her life
Red, cold, scarred
The deadly single knife
And down her soft wet cheeks
A thousand tears do pour
Silent prayers to end this mess
A life so battered and sour
And all around her huddled body
People stop and stare
Although they worry, stare and gape
Few of them truly care
The long lost soul
Of a girl so dearly loved
Was torn apart, destroyed
And into hell she was shoved
To spend her remaining days
Huddled, alone and lost
Moaning, crying, calling to the night
For an escape at any cost
For now, the shadow
She weeps and prays
Clutching her wrists in fear
Hoping to see better days
Days of light, fun, hope
Days so far away
Days she can almost touch
If she's allowed to stray
The sad lost girl
Fading into black
A silhouette of feared despair
Hoping never to come back
