Nothing Short of a Miracle

by the simple girl   Aug 25, 2007

Yesterday, today, tomorrow we stand,
Trying to keep up with society's demand.
Soldiers are dying,
Babies are crying,
As we fight for our free land.

All some people want is power,
Stepping on those who cower.
They respect the dead,
Remembering what was said,
And bring them but one flower.

Perhaps we forget why we're here,
It's not just to hide in our own fear.
We sink into the depths of darkness,
Overwhelmed by our own sadness
Crying only our silent tears.

But still, love gives the last pull,
Taking us out of that evil role.
No longer do we live in the past,
With no more regret, finally at last.
This is life, nothing short of a miracle.

~I wrote this because one of my best friends got into a car accident by rolling his car into a ditch. A crash that normally no one will have survived, he came out without a scratch. I believe that what happened right there, was a miracle. And while we as humans just think about living life, what about loving life? Most of us breeze through the day without stopping and just looking around and breathing in the beauty of nature. I think if you took time to really look around, you will find more things then you ever imagined.

^^ I really loved that stanza. This was a wonderfully written poem. I liked the flow and the way you have worded it all. People should really start treating life as if it were a miracle, instead of taking so much for granted. Great write.

    Take Care:)
