In the Dark

It's hard to look on the bright side
When the darkness is all around
Where not a single beam of light
Can ever seem to be found

When all the clouds cover
The suns warm and welcome rays
Leaving a desolate land behind
With a sadness that always stays

I'm hidden here in shadow
Lost in an endless night
Wishing I could just die away
Alone here without the light

But it seems that it
Is not meant to be
Lying here alone
In a dark I can not see

I'm destined to last on
Until my final breath
Taken away by the sweet bliss
Of a pure and innocent death

So I'll just wait here
And keep wasting away
Just lying here
To hope and to pray...

I'm all alone here
In the endless dark
Waiting here in shadow
For my pen to make its mark
