Healing?

by ryan   Apr 29, 2004

Vengeful, Vindictive, Powerful
You are still here with me.
Pure heaven in the flesh,
Your spirit haunts my dreams.
Still that beaming smile
Conceals a void of bitter cold.
You came into my life,
And twisted my paradise
Into a ravaged land
Where nothing could survive.
I fell into darkness,
Oblivion enveloped me.
For the longest time,
I thought I wouldn't make it out,
That your specter would scar my soul forever.
But I am healing now...
A light, however faint,
Has appeared in my tunnel,
And I approach it warily.
I will know better next time,
Than to surrender my defenses
And let someone destroy my heart.
I swear to this, it cannot happen again.
Such sorrow could not be overcome,
The second time.
I still feel the scars.
Every time I see you,
A dagger plunges into my heart...
But the pain isn't there,
For my heart was already killed...

By you.
------------------------just a note---------
some people complain about the big words and I'm sorry. i will endeavor not to utilise them gratuitously... just messing around there. i will try to only use a big word if it works better. this poem is very dear to me because the girl was "the one" as far as i was concerned but it just didn't pan out. the big words are because there are big emotions, and i didn't want my expression to be limited by the number of syllables i used. though it happened three years ago the pain is still fresh.thank you for reading this, feel free to comment if you liked it or thought it could have been better, or if you wanted to ask about the girl. I'll title any poem that's just to answer your questions Q & A. and yes, i do still love her.
