Your Promise

You promised me you would
put the pieces of my heart back together
and i believed you because i knew you would.

you promised me you would chase away the dark
and you did once you became my light.
you vowed that you would never leave me
even after i was no longer broken.

you said you would tear down my wall
just to show me how much you love me.
you tore down every last piece of it
then put up a shield so that i would never
have to build another.

you recited to me the poem you wrote,
you said that
i want this poem to take your breath away
with every word.

by the end of your poem i was crying
because i never knew someone could
love me so much.

you told me that i put you under
love's spell with a single touch.

you demanded i know that
there was no such thing
as someone loving me to much.

you told me all of this and so much more
and today i lie in your arms
reflecting upon all of that

and realize that it will be you to forever hold me
