Endings

by ephemera   Sep 10, 2007

Lost in moonlight deceptive
Where shadowy depths of my heart are exposed,
Enchanted by stray melodies
Softly escaping lips from long ago,
Feeling as if dreaming once more
I wake to face the day,
For something once lost has returned
What I thought to have long passed away.

Twilight becomes my comfort
As I sense the promise of sun,
For moonlight masks the truth
When shadows rampant run,
And light shall be the first sign
A new beginning shall rise,
Life shall be beautiful again
Love shall remove its stubborn guise.

I have finally found what was lost
It was my heart all this time,
Caught up in a world of fantasy
Where glamour can only survive,
In the moonlight where I first felt it
Sorrow and a deceptive love,
Tonight there is no moon
As I scan the heavens above.

There is only the here and now
As I realize what you have become to me,
Nothing more than a shadow
Lurking in the text of history,
And today I smile again
For sunrise reassures the weak,
Love of others has taught me much
Life nevermore shall be bleak.
