Break-Up

Your eyes stare back at me
And a tear slides down my face
It hits the photo on my lap
And slides down it without a trace

I feel the smooth surface beneath my fingers
And close my eyes
I can almost touch you again
You're sitting next to me to my surprise

I smell your aftershave next to me
And I feel your strong arms wrapped around
Nuzzling your face against mine
Keeping me safe and sound

Your tongue licks my cheek
And a smile spreads across my face
Your puppy kisses feel so good
Seeing as this is all empty space

I place the picture down in a drawer
And pile my clothes on top
Holding my breath as well as I can
And praying my tears will stop

Then I lay down in my unmade bed
And pull your stuffed animals close
Pressing my face deep into them
So my fears they won't expose

Then once again I close my eyes
And pretend you're next to me
Bleeding though a wound on my wrist
We'll finally be free
