Stillness Of The Night

Stillness of a Night
narrated an emotive account
of a weak-minded Prince, and a charming maiden
resembling you.

Wholesomeness of the dark
induced his regal vein
compose delightful words
in ode to her splendor, the ones I scribble
for you.

With minstrels playing
jaunty rhythms beside a tranquil pond,
waters displayed him
the beloved face
glistening in moonlight.

Elegant doves
akin to sculpted marbles, used to deliver
roseate annotations.

She used to blush, and shake her head
just as you do.

One such dove once carried
an emerald loop . . . but didn't return.
Days searched through months
and months into years,
but nothing returned.

Till a morning Sun dazzled
on the pea green circle, worn by a meager painter
picturing the lonesome Prince.

A searing jealousy queried curiously
"How much for that?"

Baffled mind of the rattled artist replied
"It's a priceless engagement ring!"

A green-eyed crown
beheaded
a creative crown in love,
in the stillness of a similar Night.

Times have altered much,
Hasn't it?
