A Soldier's Tale

by Curtis Ayukawa   Sep 15, 2007

Home sweet home, so far from this land,
Here there's nothing but for a soldiers demand.
The pain of the masses will never pass by,
As long as flawed governments continue to deny.

A distant memory beckons my mind,
Of a place once so peaceful but now we are blind.
Bloodshed for money and killing for sport,
Talks of freedom and peace cut short.

This place called home to many is foreign to me,
I long for a place where I can be free.
Home sweet home, truly far from this place,
The nightmares of here, one can not erase.

One day perhaps mankind can reunite,
But for now that's a dream I'll sleep on tonight.
Bombs will fly and people shall continue to die,
Day after day many will ask why.

Home sweet home so far from this land,
Will we ever truly understand?
This is the story of a soldier's tale,
Freedom and peace shall soon prevail.

The soldier's tale is not one to be proud of
But rather one that's best kept true to the fact.
They fight for glory, peace and freedom,
But freedom never comes willingly.
It comes at a price and it's definitely not for the weak.
Millions of people have died since the beginning of humankind
Just in the name of one's greed and desire to prosper and cause senseless pain.
Thousands more continue this fight and perish every day.
Think of those who keep our freedom over here.
They are thousands of miles away keeping us safe.
Come home soon, please,
We miss you.
