From the wings of a black bird

by SweetDreamz   Sep 27, 2007

To save a soul
To watch it tremble
To break it down and reassemble.
Bed bugs bite
And shadows loom
Fantastic fear
Becomes a tomb.
Monsters under the bed,
Ripped from a child's head,
Pre- school nightmare
But tears stain those sheets
No sweet dream to bear.
Don't cry little one
I know how they bite
I know where the hide
And sting all through the night,
With glistening fangs
And piercing eyes
They sink in
As moonlight rise, but black bird flies
Amoungst those eyes
Morph to stars
Tattered feathers
From those same scars.
Inhale; this mirrors tale,
Same red pulse,
Shattered glass; exhale.
I've tasted that poison,
Deep and red,
Rotting flesh
Within my head.
But flying still a reprieve from death
Flying still with sickles breath!
And flying still to window sill
Flying still! With crying will
To little one
In monsters claw
Baby bird
Squawk and caw
No knight shall come
No stallion he bring,
No fair prince
Sent from a king
No fairytale
Will either sing!
Your Savior comes
Upon this wing
Whisper heard
From the wings of a black bird.
