Everyday

by Mark Z   Sep 28, 2007

Everyday I see you
And I wonder why.
What makes me come back?
Why do I try?
You are my friend
and thats all I've asked
but beneath my guise
I want more than that.
So maybe it is just another phase
I just want to break free of this cage
Everyday I see you as you walk by.
and smile wondering why I try.
I'm always striving
To curse myself some more
and I get closer
to the pit's painful floor
I tempt fate more and more
with every planned meeting.
There I want to run away
and ignore my secret needing.
If things go as planned, I can barely scrape through
Soon the day will come when I ruin everything for you
Everyday I see you in a rare light,
And I smile and fall deeper into night.
Just let me free,
I want to be a child again
Why did I have to ruin this?
Curse the flaws of men.
You've done nothing.
You don't even know.
I'm a coward.
I'd never let it show.
Thank you for being who you are.
One light in the mist, an eternal shining star.
Everyday I see you and I know well.
I smile and see perfection in your earthly shell.
Hopefully I can make this choice,
I can finally be a man,
There's one couple in my heart:
Hope and Loneliness together stand.
I'll accept my fate,
I know you don't need me there
You're already complete
You are a part of another pair.
So though I've put it off so long.
The last thing to do, I decided in this song.
Soon comes the last day I'll see you walking by
And then I'll smile and say good-bye.
