Come away with me, drive

by jac   Oct 6, 2007

I just want to drive, far, far away from this town
away from all of my dreams, hopes, aspirations, and fears
to be able to look out on an endless road, not knowing of my fate

my heart keeps pounding faster, faster, the more that I accelerate
the horizon in the distance, surrounded by mountains, trees, and stars
I'm nearer now to heaven than I could ever have imagined

the miles keep on passing, getting closer, closer to nowhere
gliding effortlessly around curves in the road, smooth as silk
I'll know where I'm going when I get there, I promise

pausing so very, very slightly to gaze across a moonlit pasture
it reminds me of home, of the past summer nights
just a faint reminiscense of the moments that'll never return

come back, back to me, just take me by the hand, it'll be alright again
forget all your regrets, merely sit and watch the sun come up
a new day, a new beginning, start over, come drive with me....
